I popped in to MRD Home, a  wholesale company in Melbourne, on Friday and caught up with the owner, my good friend Craig. He's the funniest guy - I love catching up with him. He travels the globe looking for inspiration for his latest designs, so always has lots of interesting stories. His designs can be found in home ware shops all over Australia but a new website is about to be launched next week - www.mrdhome.com.au. We'll be featuring his house in the next issue of Real Living magazine - due out on Monday so check his sleek pad out. I fell in love with it! I spotted a quirky antlers pendant lamp at MRD Home, Craig's interpretation of a popular trend. (See pic)
I recently did a shoot called Copy Cat Shops which involved re-creating 3 shop interiors on location. My favourite look was inspired by clothes shop Witchery (see pic above) - which had been newly decorated with huge antler chandeliers, classic sofas and dark wood fittings. When creating this look I kept the palette neutral and cosy and included an antler from collectors heaven - Tarlo and Graham.

As I write this I'm sitting on my day bed, with my dog Jack fast asleep next to me. This is my very first foray in to the world of blogging and I'm quite excited to hear from all of you design savvy lovelies out there. As some of you might know, I work as the Melbourne Style Editor for Real Living magazine and spend my time concocting interesting features to (hopefully) inspire and delight!

Today I spent the morning phoning and emailing PR companies and shops, organizing for props to be sent to me for a shoot next week. Then in the afternoon I headed over to Fitzroy to hunt for props in my favourite shops. My latest challenge is to find the most gorgeous pendant lamps, crockery / dinnerware and heaters. I know, a strange combination - luckily they're not being all shot together. I'll be shooting in studio in St Kilda and I've been racking my brains for interesting ways to shoot the products. The end result will be interesting!

This afternoon Natalie Walton, the Deputy Editor of RL, forwarded me an article on Australian homes magazines from www.decor8.blogspot.com. How funny to see a picture of me, standing on a chair, carefully placing magazine images on the wall of my house. The photo was taken by photographer, Dan Magree, without me realizing, while I put the finishing touches to my wall. I can't believe an American lady has noticed it on the Real Living website and liked it! What a lovely compliment. The image is part of a feature called 'Small Space Treatments' which is in this months issue (March 08). I'm including most of the pics on my new blog site, for anyone who missed it.
